It doesn’t seem like that many years ago I saw Danny and Jill Harker with their two sons, Luke and Danny, at their first Junior National Hereford Expo. But, as the saying goes “time flies when you are having fun.”
Danny and Jill have been long time supporters of junior programs, but have quickly found a home in the Junior National Hereford Association. Not only has it been a place for them to watch their sons grow, but they also believe it is a place for the next generation of leaders in the industry to develop their skills. “We are huge supporters of junior programs because of the leadership benefits, life skills, educational opportunities and scholarships they offer,” Jill said. “BioZyme®’s Feed the Future program is an easy way for us to give back.”
VitaFerm is a product that the Harker family has used for the past 10 years, and just by purchasing VitaFerm® products and then submitting their receipts, the Harkers have allowed BioZyme to make a $100 donation to the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA). It is BioZyme’s goal to donate a total of $100,000 by October 2017.
“VitaFerm Concept•Aid® 5/S is the perfect product for us to use, and you can see the difference it has made in the fleshing ability of our cows. Our cow herd is on a forage-based diet, and with Amaferm® it takes less forage to increase the pounds and fleshing ability of our females,” said Danny. “Over the past 10 years our conception rate in our embryo transfer program has increased more than 8%.”
Participation in the program is very simple. Take a picture of your invoice or receipt for VitaFerm products with your smartphone or camera and email a copy of the invoice to Hereford@biozymeinc.com or text your pictures(s) to our office at 816-383-3109. BioZyme will then donate $1 per bag or tub of eligible products. Eligible products include Concept•Aid, Heat™, Cattleman’s Blend™, 30:13% Protein Tub, Roughage Fortifier® and Sure Start® Pellet.
